This is a cocktail which was made up on a television programme on Sunday. It is suppose to be "American" to celebrate 4th July!! Not too sure how though...but think it could be a good birthday cocktail. Hope you enjoy it....
Ingredients 35ml/1¼fl oz gin 1 tbsp maraschino cherry liqueur 2 tsp violet-flavoured syrup 25ml/1fl oz freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 scoop ice 1 twist orange rind, to garnish
Method 1. Place the gin, maraschino cherry liqueur, violet syrup and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Add a scoop of ice and shake well. 2. To serve, strain the mixture into a Martini glass. Garnish with a twist of orange rind.
Thank you for this recipe - I shall make it on the 4th of July if I can find the violet-flavored syrup. Might have to wait for that till I visit the UK in July.
An interior design history enthusiast and in my own way an erstwhile chronicler of those I call the Lost Generation - those men, some of them gay and many of whom died of AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s, and who are to a great degree forgotten.
