The beautiful tonal contrasts in this photo make me think of the drawings of Chris Van Allsburg & John Koch's paintings of upper-class living rooms. The stillness and mood of anticipation is palpable, as though someone--or something--is just about to enyter.
An interior design history enthusiast and in my own way an erstwhile chronicler of those I call the Lost Generation - those men, some of them gay and many of whom died of AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s, and who are to a great degree forgotten.
I don't think I ever told you but those photographs above that chest are my favorite thing. I think they are fantastic!
