Herts, thank you. I agree but have got used to the southern gent's way of going sockless in summer. Shoe liners, of course, do help. As to mozzies: "Deep Woods" scent free towelettes are a boon to a bare ankle when sitting at table on a southern lawn.
An interior design history enthusiast and in my own way an erstwhile chronicler of those I call the Lost Generation - those men, some of them gay and many of whom died of AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s, and who are to a great degree forgotten.
You forgot to mention the humidity, my hell in NO.
