My birthday was June 26, and I tried to explain to my 12-year-old son (from my hetero marriage) how my BEST birthday present was the fact that his aunt and her (female) partner now had the same federal rights as his dad and me. He shrugged his shoulders in a sort of, "Yeah, and your point is...?" way. Please take his shrug as another congratulations. He believed you should have been able to marry and have this legitimate recognition all along. Our beautiful youth... Yours and my sisters' relationships are the loving, exemplary gay and lesbian relationships that demonstrate to our youth that *this* is what love is about, too. Many blessings to you and yours.
Oh my my..Congratulations Enjoy your honeymoon!!! Oh my god, Bulgari, Cartier, and Van Clef & Arpels are going more need more platinum and gold ring blings to sell to their customers... I guess some of my friends and relatives are going to get hitched now!!! they have been waiting ...wait for it... Love a reader of your fine blog, with its wonderful links to other architectural and interior design blogs.. Love to all...
It seems almost impetuously generous, not to say forgiving, I believe you won't mind one's saying, to allow the laws to patronise your entitlement. But it does allow them the experience of good behaviour. Make no mistake; this was very nice of you.
And so another story begins! I'm very happy for you and to agree with Anon above. The future is heart-shaped and multicolored and that's just fine if our youth take that for granted. Joy to you both!
Oh Blue and Rory, I am late at the party but I couldn't be happier for you both. This is the sweetest match and I know your happiness will continue as a young married couple! Oh, this is so good. Rosie xx
It's been a long time coming – "living in sin" for thirty four years, as I said to the judge who married us – but it was worth every minute of every year to get here!
Congratulations, and heartfelt felicitations. I learned of this delightful news on Rory's FB page, where the photo of the two of you appears. My, my, how much has changed in our lifetimes! Now, noone can refer to us as "not the 'marrying kind'" or "lifelong bachelors" anymore! And Hooray for that, and for the Two of You! Hooray!!
Rory told me you had commented on his FB page and I want to thank you for that and for for your beautiful comment here. I've always been the "marrying kind" but ..... what amazes me the most is how quickly we've gone from Stonewall to same-sex marriage in virtually one generation!
I am tardy B., but please accept my heartfelt "Congratulations" to you and your husband! I am truly so happy for you both and wish you a lifetime of love, laughs, and much joy! all my best, joan
An interior design history enthusiast and in my own way an erstwhile chronicler of those I call the Lost Generation - those men, some of them gay and many of whom died of AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s, and who are to a great degree forgotten.
Yea, rah! Congratulations! Let the merriment begin!
