So much a genre, when I see a color photo in any of the books, it's a shock. Color is of the present and black and white is truly the tonality of memory.
I too have loved this picture from C.L. !! Isn't the most surreal of images? More lIke a 30's movie set of garden pool at a English country house or at a very, very make believe American country house. I love your choices of images and perspective on architecture and interiors.
I've always found these Country Life photos interesting. You could say that the magazine has produced its own genre.
